At the Rogers Hixon Ontario Human Milk Bank, we believe every drop of donor human milk has the power to protect, nourish and transform the life of a medically fragile infant.
We are located at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, and we are Ontario’s only human milk bank. Our goal is simple: we aim to save lives and help improve health outcomes for vulnerable preterm infants. We do this by providing safe, high-quality pasteurized donor human milk to neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across Ontario.
Our mission
We are passionate about:
- Providing safe, life-saving donor human milk to preterm and medically fragile infants
- Prioritizing clinical excellence, ongoing research and innovation, and caring service in everything we do
- Creating lasting trust with our generous community of milk donors by being open, empathetic and united in a common goal
What we do
- Screen and provide lactation support to milk donors across Ontario and beyond
- Arrange courier services to pick up milk from all donors
- Pool, bottle, pasteurize and test every batch of donor milk for safety
- Distribute milk by prescription to NICUs across Ontario and the Atlantic provinces
Our funding partners
The Milk Bank receives funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health, with additional support from the Rogers Foundation and Sinai Health Foundation.
